2024-2025 Season highlights
The Glynn Academy boys soccer team began their quest to return to the GHSA Class 5A Final Four with a strong 3-1 victory over Alexander in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday. It marked the Terrors’ 10th consecutive win in a playoff opener and another promising start under longtime head coach Bobby Brockman. “I thought it was our best performance of the season,” Brockman said. “The commitment was tremendous.”
Despite falling behind 1-0 early, Glynn responded with poise. Jack Roberts tied the match off a Sam Barbee assist, and Sammy Santana followed with an unassisted goal just before halftime to give the Terrors a 2-1 lead. In the second half, TJ Roberts extended the advantage with a third goal, again set up by Santana, providing the cushion needed to seal the win.
Defensively, the Terrors were rock solid. Goalkeeper Joseph Villalobos Vasquez and the back line stifled a talented Alexander attack for the rest of the match. “Our defenders did a great job of shutting down a very good attacking team,” Brockman said. Glynn (14-4) now heads on the road to face Veterans (16-3) in the second round at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Glynn Academy delivered a dominant 8-0 victory over Frederica Academy in a celebratory night at Glynn County Stadium, marking the final home regular-season game of head coach Bobby Brockman’s 31-year career. The Terrors wasted no time, scoring in the opening two minutes and never looking back. TG Roberts recorded a hat trick, Oliver Van Boxel opened the scoring with a penalty, and Glynn’s relentless attack overwhelmed the Knights as they closed out the match with authority.
The lopsided win was a fitting tribute to Brockman, whose coaching legacy includes a 448-90-22 record, 17 region titles, and deep playoff runs. Dozens of former players, fans, and community leaders turned out to honor the coach, culminating in a postgame ceremony where Brockman was presented with a key to the city and a commemorative plaque. “I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Brockman said. “The success has been great, but it’s the relationships and community support that mean the most.”
On the girls' side, Glynn Academy and Frederica Academy battled to a hard-fought 2-2 draw. The Terrors built a 2-0 lead before Frederica mounted a late comeback, capped by a penalty kick in the final two minutes. While the match ended without a winner, both teams valued the chance to test themselves against strong local competition in a spirited crosstown showdown
